Making A Decision

Q & A

Finding the right Contractor Can be Tough, But Now You’ve Found Us.

Taking on a home or business renovation isn’t something most people do often, so it makes sense to have questions — and maybe even a few worries. From cost and timelines to how to choose the right contractor, there’s a lot to think about. You’re not the first person who wanted to feel sure before making a big decision.

Here are some clear, honest answers to the things people ask us most. And if you still have questions after reading, give us a call — we’re happy to talk through your project with you.

How long have you been in business?

Since May 2003, we have been serving as a licensed General Contractor in North Carolina.

Are you insured?

We are fully insured, as are all our subcontractors. When requesting an estimate, it is prudent to ensure your contractor is both licensed and insured and has at least 3–5 years of experience. Contractors should be able to provide certificates of insurance, including workers’ compensation and general liability coverage. Additionally, it is advisable to request that owners be listed as additional insured parties on these policies, which enhances coverage for the owners. Please note that if a contractor lacks proper insurance and sustains an injury during your project, the property owner may be held liable. Likewise, in the event of property damage caused by an uninsured contractor, the owner could be responsible. We also recommend requesting references for and examples of completed projects.

What is your schedule and timeframe to start a job?

Smaller jobs are usually completed within 7 to 10 days, depending on what’s involved. Larger projects often span 6 to 8 weeks. In the case of emergencies, we’re generally able to start within 24 to 48 hours.

How far will you travel?

Our standard service area extends within a 50 to 75-mile radius. For locations beyond this range, additional trip charges and hourly management rates will be assessed based on the specific project type and scope of work required.

Do you charge for estimates?

The initial site visit customarily includes a complimentary verbal budget estimate based on industry expertise, with an anticipated accuracy range of 15–20%. Should detailed plans be unavailable or if multiple site visits and consultations are necessary, applicable fees will be assessed. For substantial projects, clients are required to execute a pre-construction agreement.

Can you help with insurance claims for damages and repairs?

When handling insurance claims, it is important to verify whether your policy provides coverage for damages based on current market values or if depreciation applies. In our experience spanning two decades, the majority of policies typically compensate for approximately 50% of the property’s value. This situation often arises due to insurer adjusters either overlooking necessary items during their assessment or intentionally undervaluing claims. As former clients, we have requested copies of adjuster assessments and compared them with our own on-site evaluations, frequently finding significant shortfalls in damage valuation.

In cases where the insurance company does not respond fairly after receiving our comprehensive evaluation, we assist clients by contacting the insurance commissioner, attorney general, and providing access to legal advice. In every instance, this process has resulted in the insurer revising the claim amount to accurately reflect the true value of the damage

What commercial work do you provide?

We provide a comprehensive suite of commercial services, including retail upfits, general maintenance, annual contractual agreements, exterior renovations for shopping centers and malls, as well as emergency response solutions such as facility security following damage.

Can you help with plans for my project?

Certainly. Our network of experienced architects and designers, with whom we have collaborated on numerous projects, is available to provide design services for both residential and commercial needs.
